Solution

Before You Begin
These settings are for accessing your Cox.net email. For any other email service, you may need to enter a server name for both incoming and outgoing mail in order to get your cox.net email in your preferred email client.

ServerDescription
POP or POP3The Post Office Protocol (POP) is the incoming server. POP3 is POP version 3. You will either see POP or POP3 when configuring your email account(s). POP enables you to download messages from a the email host location to a computer.
SMTPThe Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is the outgoing server. It sends messages from your computer to the host.

Supported Email
Use these settings for most email clients, including:
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Windows Live Mail
  • Mail for Mac

Standard and Mobile Secure Email Settings

Use these protocols when setting up Cox.net email on most devices.
Note: Your user name and password is the same as the one you use to access your email account.

Server Settings

Note: It is not necessary to add east or west to this server name.
Incoming POP Port: 110
Note: 
Use 995 when not on the Cox network for a secure connection.
smtp.cox.net
Note: It is not necessary to add east or west to this server name.
Outgoing SMTP Port:
  • 587 with TLS enabled
  • 465 with SSL enabled and check the authentication box, if available
Note: You may need to select SSL as an option if it exists when TLS does not work with port 465.
