Battery Saving Tips







Here's some ways to get the most out of your battery on the Samsung Galaxy S6. The General battery saving tips are good for any Android phone. Of course too never forget that battery life has a lot to do with how much you use your phone. If you serf the web or watch YouTube for a few hours even the best batteries will die!


Power Saving Mode

To turn on, turn off, or use battery life saving features on the device, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'System,' then tap Battery.
  4. Tap Power saving mode


Power Saving Mode Settings


To change settings for the battery life saving feature, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'System,' then tap Battery.
  4. Tap Ultra Power saving mode.
  5. Move the Ultra power saving mode switch right to the ON position.
  6. Set these Ultra power saving mode options as desired:
    • Phone
    • Messages
    • Internet
  7. Tap the + sign to add additional options.




General Battery Saving Tips and Tricks


To save and extend battery life, follow these steps:

Use Task Manager to stop active apps

  1. From any home screen tap the recent application icon (bottom left corner).
  2. Scroll and select application you want to close.
  3. Swipe left or right to close selected application or select the Close all app icon in the bottom right of the screen to close all open apps.

Lower screen brightness and timeout duration

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Device,' then Display.
  4. Tap Screen timeout or Automatic brightness to adjust the settings.

Turn off Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi calling, Bluetooth, GPS, Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Connections,'  then tap the service you wish to turn off.

Change application sync settings

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Personal,' then tap Accounts.
  4. Tap desired account under the 'Accounts'.
  5. To sync select apps and accounts:
    1. Tap your account.
    2. Clear any check boxes you do not want to sync.
    3. Select or leave selected any check boxes you want to sync.
    4. When finished with selections, tap the Menu icon.
    5. Tap Sync now.

Turn off background data

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Connections,' then tap Data usage.
  4. Tap the MORE icon.
  5. Tap Restrict background data.
  6. Tap OK.

Minimize use of third party applications

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Device,' then tap Applications.
  4. Tap Application manager.
  5. Swipe right to the DOWNLOADED screen.
  6. Tap the desired application
  7. Tap Uninstall.
  8. Tap Uninstall again to confirm.

Toggle from 4G to 2G

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to 'Connections,'  then tap More connection settings
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Network mode.
  6. Tap one of the following desired band settings:
    • LTE / WCDMA / GSM (auto connect) (LTE setting)
    • GSM / WCDMA (auto connect)
    • WCDMA only
    • GSM only (2G only setting)

Update to the latest software

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down to 'System,' and then tap About device.
  4. Read the baseband version on the phone and update accordingly.

Set device to sleep when unused

Press and then quickly release the Power key to set the screen to sleep mode.
