Internet or Phone Calls not Working on your Sprint Phone Fix

Sprint Phone
Service Update Codes

These are the ## codes for activating or updating the service on your Sprint phone. You will usually have to run these after activating a used device as it will not automatically look for service when you turn it on. I would always start by Hard Resetting any used phone that you may have to activate again but just in case you do not want to erase everything off that phone you can force the activation with the following codes -

##update# (##873283#) Which updates the service to the phone. This can also help with weak connection and kicking on the internet when it is not working.

##clear# (##25327#) This one actually erases the previous programing and forces the phone to reprogram the phone. I have seen cases where Sprint phones will work after running the ##update# but with some quirks, for instance I switched phones with one of my employees and anytime he called me it came up as my Voicemail. I know weird, well ##clear# will fix any of those little quirks that come from using someones old phone.

Of course once again if you don't care about the info on the phone just hard reset it. The phone will go through the activation process like a new device and there should be no need for these codes.  Also on any iPhone device you can just go to Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings. This will only force the programming and will not delete anything from your phone.

Sprint Variable Payment Options

Sprint Variable DownPayment
Option Explanation

Ever gone to try and get phones from a carrier and not been able to due to high down payment or deposits? Well Sprint is trying to make it easier for people with lower credit scores to get a major nationwide carrier. With Variable Down Payments for leasing you get multiple options with different down payments. For example, if your required to put $50 down there may be an option to put $0 yet pay more per month. This will also work in the reverse, maybe instead of $50 you want to put $100 to lower your monthly charge of the lease. It is also possible to change the lease duration to a longer time period to lower the monthly payment, you can pick a 3 year lease instead of the standard 2 year for example which would reduce the monthly payment. I cannot say I would want to be stuck in a 3 year lease for a phone but I am sure some people out there may see this as the better option. You have to give them credit Sprint really seems to be trying to give as many options to get new people to join up, I hope it's panning out for them.

This option is only available to lower credit class individuals and there are still some even lower credit classes which will not be offered a variable payment. You can still always bring your own phone to Sprint now and get a sim card for free. There is no charge for this except what the store charges you for the sim card (there isn't even an Activation fee!). You don't even have to pay your first months service. Your device must either be unlocked or a Sprint device, they do not activate Sprint prepaid devices on the regular Sprint network. Not sure why but they cannot. There is also no commitment to stay a Sprint customer when you sign up using equipment you already owned (no contract or lease) and you are eligible to upgrade right away. This is a great way to try out a company before making any commitment but you could end up losing out on some new activation promotions that may be going on.

For more information on Variable Down Payments on leasing Sprint phones check out your local Sprint store.

Remove your memory card and ave your Gmail logins ready. After the reset, you will be prompted to enter the Gmail info that was on the account before the wipe. This is called Factory Reset protection or FRP, it is designed to protect your phone from someone else using it if it were stolen. If you can't remember your Gmail logins I have a couple posts the could help -

If you still have access to your phones home screen and can access the settings there is an easier way!

How to Factory Reset the HTC Desire 610

How to Hard Reset the HTC Desire 610

Forgot your pattern or password? Locked out of your phone and don't know how to get back in? I hope you backed everything up and know your Gmail logins. Due to Factory Reset Protection or FRP, you will need the logins for the Gmail that are on the device to regain access to your phone after a Factory Reset. If you have the ability to remove the Gmail from the settings first the phone will not ask for the logins. This is the easiest way to bypass FRP, there are some harder ways too but that's not what we are talking about today. So without further adu, remove your memory cards and Power down that phone to get ready for the Factory Reset using the hardware keys for the HTC Desire 610.

- HTC Desire Factory Data Reset Instruction -

Step 1. Power off your HTC Desire by using the Power Button.

Step 2. Remove your Memory Card / Micro SD Card so you do not lose your photo's.

Step 3. Press and hold the following keys at the same time Volume Down and Power. Continue holding until you see the screen with 3 Android images then release the buttons.

Step 4. (Make sure you know the Gmail logins that were originally on the phone. Double check them by logging into the account on another device if you are unsure!) Use the Volume Down key to highlight Factory Reset and then press Power.

Step 5 Done. The phone is now set back to Factory Default and has been cleared of all data. You will be prompted to login to the Gmail account that was originally on the device and then you can either keep it on there or remove it from the phone.

Locked out of Your Android Phone (Fixed)

Android – Locked Out

Ok, so for whatever reason you have entered your little pattern too many times on your Android phone and you are now locked out. You can’t remember your pattern, something or someone else entered it too many times or something of the like and you are now stuck at the “Too Many Pattern Attempts” screen. The phone is demanding the Google account details that you synced the phone with when you very first turned it on. Maybe you have now forgotten those login details too or the phone is simply refusing to accept the correct login details.
For whatever reason you are at a dead end and stuck at the too many pattern attempts page of doom, however, all is not lost. Far from it my dear reader! If you simply want to get rid of the pattern lock you which you are stuck trying to remember, but aren’t yet completely locked out, you are in luck.

Firstly note that;
  • Removing your battery and SIM or just the battery will NOT solve your problems
  • A hard reset will solve your problems; however, it will erase ALL personal data from your device. You will be able to download your applications from the store again, and sync  all of your contacts again from Google but all texts and personal data that is not synced or backed up externally, say on to your memory car, WILL be lost.
  • Using Android Debug Bridge (adb) will only disable the pattern lock if you are not already locked out completely and at the too many pattern attempts page of doom.
So What Can You Do?
  • Enter your email address in to the device
  • In the password field enter “null” without the speech marks.
  • You will then be prompted to enter a new pattern and once again you have your phone back in action with all data intact.
That Didn’t Work, What Now?
  • There are reports that if you have uppercase letters in your email address and or password that trying again with them in lower case will work.
  • If you have got USB Debugging already enabled on your device, and you are not quite at too many pattern attempts page of doom then you can disable the pattern lock via adb.
How to Disable Pattern Lock via ADB
  • You must have previously enable USB Debugging (Settings -> Application -> Development -> USB Debugging)
  • Download and extract the Android SDK (from here)
  • Plug your phone into your computer
  • In command line navigate to where you extracted the SDK, then to the Tools folder which should contain adb.exe
Do not simply run adb.exe but instead enter adb –d shell. Your command prompt should look like the following;
ADB

ADB Instructions
  • Now disconnect and power off your phone, and turn it back on and the pattern lock should be gone.
What If I didn’t Have USB Debugging Enabled?
I hate to say it but you are more or less at the end of the road.
A factory reset (also known as a hard reset) is probably your only option.
The instructions below are a guide only, and will only usually apply to stock Android installs and not rooted phones. Please be aware that a factory reset will delete all of your data on the phone (may or may not delete the contents of anything on attached storage devices, including Micro SD cards), this is done at the owner’s (your!) risk and no member of this site will be held responsible for any loss of data or damage to your devices.
